Check a photo

Photo proof anyone can check. No ads, no account, no watermark.

The photo you chose

Read from the photo when it has one. Type it if the photo was re-saved.

How the check works

Your photo never leaves this device. This page computes the photo's fingerprints in your browser and sends only those numbers to the Timestamped registry, which compares them with the fingerprints recorded when the photo was taken.

Original means the file is byte for byte the one registered, and the registry vouches for it from the time it was registered. Check that the code printed on the stamp is the code on file: a stamp copied onto another photo carries another code. A copy re-saved by a messaging app can only look like the original: for a definitive check, ask the sender for the original file. A code typed on its own proves nothing, because anyone can copy a code onto another photo.

The check shows that a photo existed, unchanged, when it was registered. It cannot prove the scene itself was genuine.
